Problems with file browser and Internet Explorer

Description
We have been experiencing some intermittent and strange problems with Internet Explorer and the file browser in BASE. It only happens when browsing from some computers on some BASE servers and we have not been able to find any pattern why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.
To reproduce the problem, simply go to View -> Files and click around in the directory listing. Sometimes there will be no problems. Sometimes the following happens:
- The list of files is displayed but also an error message (bild1.png).
- When clicking 'OK' the list of files is replaced with a different error message (bild2.png)
- Now, if you try selecting a different menu item from the main menu another error is displayed (bild3.png), but after clicking 'OK' the action is performed.
The information we have so far seems to indicate that the problems are related to the initialization of the filter for the "Type" column (bild4.png). If the file list is changed to not include "Type" column or the "Location" column the problem seems to go away.
The recommended workaround is to hide the "Type" and "Location" columns. If that doesn't help, please add a comment to this ticket.
