  The main target is to create a new framework for external plug-in execution. The root ticket is #1443. At the same time, we introduce the BFS file format that is easier to use than the BASEfile format (tickets #1440, #1444, #1448, and more to come...)

  A new and improved GUI for handling bioplates will be introduced. The vision is that once biomaterial has been placed on plates, it should be possible to create items in batch in a way that more or less make the old file-based batch importers obsolete. Labs that have repeating experimental patterns should be able to define events and chains of events that makes it possible to create everyting from samples down to hybridizations with just a few clicks.
